Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.

You are looking at an older Aiwa DM-17 dynamic omni-directional model microphone from the 1960's era. This unique microphone was an earlier model offered by what was an obscure Japanese microphone company that is pretty well known all of these years later and was intended as an affordable general purpose microphone set at high impedance. It comes with the short cable shown as well as the original desk stand in which to display.

The DM-17 was was designed to replicate the earlier looking RCA mics of the 1930's and 1940's like the 77DX model. These were inferior designs of course but they were popular for buyers who needed an affordable dynamic mic of that era. The DM-17 was a very small pill mic and about 1/6 the size of the RCA 77DX but this example still works like new and can be used as it was intended.

It's not the prettiest example I have ever offered but for the asking price...you'll appreciate what's being offered.

The classic pill shaped design was copied by many Japanese companies before being phased out around the 1970's.

The mic is an all metal design. Very light weight and it has the lower chrome swivel mechanism (yoke) so that you can tilt the mic accordingly. This mic ha a few subtle flaws that you can probably see in the pics provided.

The mic is free of any fractures but there are a few small dents in the upper screen and there are some lite scratches here and there. No odors or tarnish on the top screen and the label is completely legible. The lower yoke works perfectly and free of any tarnish. The two side thumb screws look excellent. I'd rate the true cosmetic condition of this mic a 7 + on a scale of 1 - 10.

The cable is just 5 feet long. It's soft, pliable and in excellent shape. Comes with the male 1/4 inch end connector.

The mic can easily unscrew from the stand and be used on any desk or floor stand if you don't like the stand provided.

The original Aiwa stand is also included. It looks like a replica of the original RCA 91B model sold in the 1940's to 1960's but the Aiwa model is much smaller and lighter. It makes for a very stable platform for the mic and compliments it nicely despite the wear. The stand is also an all metal design with original umber brown paint but has some heavier wear in the form of paint chips. The stand comes with the 4 inch chrome riser which has very lite wear. The center chrome accent piece looks very nice.

This mic with stand is appx 10 inches tall X 3 1/2 inches wide X 6 inches deep. A fun piece to use with your HAM radio set up or just display anywhere in the home, studio or office.

As with all my vintage microphones...
