McIntosh XR50 Speakers — Gorgeous Compact McIntosh Monitors + BOX(ES)

Up for sale is my pair of McIntosh XR50 bookshelf / stand-mount speakers. These are beautifully built, serious little monitors from McIntosh — compact enough to work in a normal room, but with that big, refined, unmistakably polished McIntosh presentation. I’m only selling because I have too many speakers, and at some point the house starts looking less like a listening room and more like a very expensive game of Tetris.

The XR50s are a 3-way design using McIntosh’s LD/HP driver technology, with a 5” woofer, two 2” inverted-dome midranges, and a ¾” titanium-dome tweeter. They are rated down to about 40 Hz, which is frankly impressive for their size, and they image beautifully. These are not shouty or harsh speakers — they are clean, detailed, full, and very composed. Great for jazz, vocals, acoustic music, classic rock, and the sort of listening where you actually want to hear tone, space, and texture instead of just treble fireworks.

They also look fantastic: classic McIntosh styling, gloss black finish, and that unmistakable blue-meter-era aesthetic without needing a giant floorstanding footprint. These would be excellent in a high-quality two-channel system, office/listening room, bedroom setup, or as premium compact mains.
