Phase Technology 7T speakers. Fully serviced, future-proofed and cosmetically updated by Upstate Vintage Speaker Lab.

The Restoration Includes:

Full Crossover Recap: Precision spec-matched MPT Film capacitors.

80-Hour Lab Soak Test: Ensuring capacitors are fully settled before audition.

Cabinet Detailing:

  • Repaired one speaker cap mounting peg with oak dowel & 2-part epoxy
  • Stripped & sanded the 30+ year old "dried out 1980's oak" aesthetic from speaker caps
  • Refinished both oak caps with 6 coats each of Howard's Restore-a-Finish & Feed 'n Wax conditioner
  • Added more robust rubber feet
  • Sanded, cleaned, primed and refinished the vinyl oak-pattern veneer in satin black
  • Deep cleaned and addressed other minor cosmetic flaws

The Result:

My 40 years of component-level experience and focus on crossover restoration ensures you are receiving a bullet-proofed pair of speakers that sound as good—if not better—than the day they left the factory. These are future-proofed for the next 40-50 years.

The Audition:

I encourage you to test them in the Lab. I can demo them on my Adcom reference system with instant A/B switching so you can compare them to other restored pairs, or even modern speakers costing 5-6x more. If you prefer a real-world setting, I can also set them up in my dedicated home theater for a listen.

*Video Note:

The Chess pieces are sitting on top of the only speakers that are playing in the video created for this ad. Everything is run direct with no subwoofer, no equalization or enhancements of any kind.

Due to mobile device microphone and internet compression limitations, the video is intended to show the speakers in a working environment and does not accurately represent the high-fidelity sound quality.

Investment & Value:

The price of these speakers reflects a "better-than-factory" restoration that generic marketplace listings cannot offer.

What you are paying for:

Performance: Premium crossover components that exceed original factory tolerances.

Cosmetic Update: Cabinet restoration and update

Peace of Mind: An average of 7–10 hours of professional bench time and a 30-day limited warranty.

Provenance: Each pair undergoes a rigorous 80-hour lab certification.

As a retired enthusiast, my focus is on the preservation of audio history rather than profit margins. I absorb the acquisition and testing costs to ensure these speakers remain a benchmark of quality for decades to come.
