One of several vintage Bach trumpets we are offering for sale. This one is a Bach New York Mt. Vernon Stradivarius model 18043. I’m still waiting for Bach to get back to me with the shop card, but research shows 43 bell in 0.020” yellow brass, Monel type E valves, 25 lead pipe, clear lacquer finish. Made in May, 1954. Very minor dings and imperfections and signs of past dent work, but currently no significant dents or problems. The pull knob is missing from the second valve tuning slide. Lacquer has been partially stripped with normal wear as seen in the photos. Just through the shop where it was chem cleaned and had all new water key cork, piston felts, tuning slide O-rings and stop rod bumper installed. Compression is good on this horn, both visually when you move the tuning slides, and objectively: on the magnehelic it measured 1.0 with plain old Al Cass, and improved to 0.7 with Hetman Classic synthetic oil. (That’s exceptional for a 50’s Strad, and perhaps hints that it’s had a valve rebuild sometime recently.) Serialized valves, all tuning slides free. Includes a worn but very cool VJ La Page mute, and a worn Bach Corp. Mt. Vernon NY 7C mouthpiece. Also includes what are likely the original lyre and cleaning rod. All in what is likely the original case with normal wear but intact handles and hardware, and I keep a bit of extra foam at the bell for extra padding. A great horn from a great period!
