Lo-fi effectsThe input sound is recorded onto tape through the REC HEAD and then output through the PLAY HEAD. The output sound is released a short time after the input. This time is determined by the tape's playback speed (SPEED) and tape length (END-START length). A faster response can be obtained by shortening the interval between START and END. The output sound quality changes significantly depending on the tape's playback speed (SPEED). Playing the tape at a high speed results in higher resolution sound quality, while playing it at a slower speed results in a coarser sound quality. When playing at a slower speed, high frequencies tend to become particularly harsh, so an LPF (TONE knob) can be used to mitigate this. 
Loop function (sampling) When you press the REC button, TAPES will always write to the tape, but by pressing the LOOP switch, you can stop writing and loop (sample) the sound. You can also save the contents of the tape by pressing and holding the LOOP button. Writing and playback are performed for the section set by the START knob and END knob. By taking advantage of this feature, you can combine multiple sounds in sequence to create new loops.
