Wefve just received a 1977 Telecaster with a lightweight ash body!

This guitar is notable for its light weight?just 3.35 kg, which was rare for its time!
Considering its age, it has very few scratches and appears to be in relatively good condition.

The body features a slightly shallower cutaway on the 6th string side, typical of this era, with the cut extending approximately to the 16th fret. Additionally, it is notable for the semi-circular machining visible around the neck pocket, as well as two screw holes drilled at an angle.Furthermore, machining marks from the CNC router?which was just beginning to be introduced into the manufacturing process at the time?are visible. Based on a comprehensive evaluation of these specifications, we have determined that this body was manufactured in 1977.

The ash wood used is relatively lightweight for a Fender guitar of this era, making it exceptionally easy to handle. Despite its light weight, it offers excellent tone and responsiveness, ensuring that the playerfs nuances are faithfully reflected in the sound.

Replaced parts include the nut, frets, bridge plate, bridge saddles, control panel, knobs, strap pins, and volume pot. These replacements have improved the guitarfs practicality and playability, adjusting it to a condition that is easy for modern players to handle.

Additionally, this instrument features brass parts?a popular material at the time?in various locations (such as the nut, bridge plate, and bridge saddles), and this influence is evident in its sound. The characteristic of brass, which adds richness to the mid-low frequencies, was utilized to achieve a deeper tone and improved sustain, reflecting the sound-design philosophy typical of the 1970s.

Regarding the electronics, it has been confirmed that the volume pot has been replaced. While the tone pot is likely a CTS model?a type commonly used at the time?the date code is difficult to decipher, so the exact year of manufacture cannot be determined.

As for the pickups, the bridge pickup features a copper-plated base plate, and the neck pickup has a rounded top. Since both pickups use black-and-white vinyl-coated leads, we have determined that they are highly likely to be original.

This is a well-balanced 1977 Telecaster that retains its vintage character while ensuring practicality through judicious part replacements. The combination of a lightweight body and the rich tone derived from the brass hardware makes this an attractive instrument for players.
