A superb dark tone born from its overwhelming sense of heft.
The Gibson Custom Shop Historic Collection 1957 Les Paul Custom has arrived. This is a 1998 model, a Historic model that recreates the so-called gBlack Beauty.h
Featuring the classic 57 Custom configuration of an all-mahogany body and ebony fingerboard, this guitar delivers a dense, low-end-heavy sound that sets it apart from Les Pauls with maple tops. Furthermore, it is equipped with f57 Classic pickups, adding the characteristic sweetness and sustain of Alnico 2. The result is a well-balanced tone that remains rich and full-bodied while remaining easy to play.
Weighing in at approximately 4.65 kg, itfs a solid heavyweight. This delivers impressive low-end thickness and sustain, making it a guitar that truly gresonates as a solid mass.h It shines not only in jazz and blues but also with high-quality clean and crunch tones.
The simple, practical two-pickup control layout is another appealing feature, ensuring excellent balance in terms of playability.
This guitar combines the rugged tone characteristic of the Hiscore era with the smoothness of the f57 Classic, achieving both playability and a vintage-like tone.
There are areas on the body top near the front pickup and toggle switch where the lacquer appears to have reacted, likely due to sticker residue. Overall, there are numerous signs of use, including scratches, dents, and some tarnish and rust on the parts.
We have performed a fret leveling due to noticeable indentations on the frets.
The neck is in good condition, and the instrument plays well.
