Up for sale is a very cool 1974 Fender Telecaster Deluxe in a naturally aged mocha/brown finish. This is the real-deal ’70s Tele Deluxe with the large pickguard layout, Strat-style headstock, and the highly desirable Fender Wide Range humbucker setup.

This one weighs 8 lb 3 oz, which is very nice and on the lighter side for a Telecaster Deluxe from this era. It has honest vintage wear throughout, including dings, marks, and finish wear from regular use, giving it a great played-in look without losing its vintage appeal.

The pickups read approximately 10.78k in the neck and 10.94k in the bridge, which is right in line with healthy vintage Fender Wide Range humbuckers from this era. These have that classic ’70s Wide Range humbucker character: clear, open, articulate, and more hi-fi than a typical Gibson-style humbucker, while still having plenty of punch and fullness.

The guitar has had a professional refret with larger, more usable frets, done by Rick’s Vintage Guitars and Repairs in St. Petersburg, FL. The fretboard does show some evidence of the refret, which is common on guitars from this era, but the work makes the guitar much more playable than many original-fret ’70s Fenders.

Electronics are working properly, and the guitar plays and sounds excellent. It has the large front-mounted pickguard/control layout typical of the model, with no rear control cavity.

The finish is best described as aged mocha, with a naturally faded/ambered appearance that sits somewhere between mocha and natural depending on the lighting. It has that classic ’70s

Fender look where the original brown/mocha has mellowed over time into a warmer, more translucent vintage shade.

A great opportunity to get into a real vintage 1974 Fender Telecaster Deluxe with the desirable Wide Range humbucker setup, a very manageable weight, and a professional refret that makes it a much more usable player.

Comes with non-original Fender Hardshell case and bill of sale from where the previous owner purchased it in the 90s. Please see pictures for overall condition.
