Ampex ATR-800 reel to reel. 7.5/15/30ips. This machine has a total of 4 headstacks: Two Ampex 1/2" 4-track headstacks (one is NOS and the other is used with plenty of life left) and two 1/4" Ampex 2- track headstacks (the two track NAB stack appears to not have had very much use and the other is a NOS DIN Stereo headstack). Three audio drawers (6 channels total) two of the drawers have been re-capped. Two spare reel motors, spare capstan motor, spare transport cards (including spare CPU input board that contains the two micro-processors responsible for main operation of deck) and even more spare audio cards as well. 1/4" and 1/2" tape guides, 1/4" and 1/2" reel hubs, brand new Athan pinch roller and another spare Athan pinch roller still sealed in bag. FULL Set of extender cards. New tape lifter sleeves installed. Also both two channel and four channel head preamps included (located directly above headstack...two channel is shown in picture). Four channel has been re-capped as well. Spare meter bulbs (both red and clear). Original full Ampex ATR-800 manual/service guide included as well. Test tape included (new).

Absolutely stellar sound and build quality. Deck is used as a 1/4" mix-down. Have not used it as a 4 track at this point. But will include the brand new 1/2" test tape. Transport made by Tascam for Ampex and audio electronics made by Ampex. The ATR-800 in my opinion is the pinnacle of Ampex design but the ATR-102 (very complicated/expensive machine to maintain) gets most of the attention. Why...I dunno...the ATR-102 design predates the ATR-800 by 4 -5 years and…the ATR-800 sounds like a tape machine...unlike some later analog decks that tried to not sound like tape decks.

Transformer I/O. Tape handling is top notch. Pin 3 hot on I/O. This deck was part of a local corporation's studio and saw very little use. Currently set up @250nWb/+3 for RTM 911. Red reel hubs not included. Ampex roll around rack included as well.

If you're looking to add a high quality mastering grade machine to your studio....I can think of no better option than this machine considering the amount of spare parts, NOS headstacks, re-capping and general TLC done to this point. This machine is an ongoing labor of love for me and I continue to source various parts and components to assure a self-sustaining machine for the right tech-minded person interested in in high end RTRs.

I can provide more pics if needed.
