This is an exceptional 15.75-inch viola built in the 1920s workshop of Karl Herrmann in Markneukirchen, Germany. The internal stamp reads "Reproduction/Antonius Stradivarius/Andreas Morelli," denoting a premium, masterful Stradivarius reproduction crafted for the respected Andreas Morelli trade name.

Materials & Condition: The instrument features a striking two-piece, highly flamed maple back with a medium-width flame. It has been meticulously cared for and kept in top playing condition for decades. There is minor finish checking and natural varnish discoloration consistent with a fine vintage instrument of this age, as well as a 1-inch crack near the f-hole that has been professionally repaired and stabilized.

Recent Professional Service: In preparation for this sale, the viola underwent a comprehensive workshop overhaul to ensure it is entirely turn-key for its next owner. This work includes a newly fitted bridge, completely redone lower block to back glue work, re-touched varnish, and a fresh set of Pirastro Obligato strings.

Tone & Playability: Despite its highly accessible 15.75" body length, this instrument possesses the projection, depth, and volume of a larger viola. It is incredibly responsive and easy to maneuver without sacrificing power. Tonally, it is beautifully balanced. Lyrical passages can be pulled out with a warm, dark complexion, while fast, articulate passages retain a bright clarity and immediate attack.

Provenance & Performance History: I have owned and performed on this viola since 2006, when it was fully restored by a trusted local string shop. It served as my primary instrument through advanced high school study and my time at university as a music major. It has consistently proved its merits in competitive solo auditions and securing the first-chair principal seat in the university symphony orchestra. It has the reliability, dynamic range, and tonal maturity required to meet any advanced student or professional player's standards.
