Klon Centaur Gold Horsie Long Tail "Fax Only" Serial #5xx

Offered here is an increasingly scarce Klon Centaur Gold Horsie Long Tail from the highly desirable "Fax Only" era.

Based on the serial number, CTS potentiometer date codes (1994), and switch date code (1996), this pedal is believed to have been assembled around 1996. Genuine Fax Only examples have become exceptionally difficult to find in recent years, particularly in original, unmodified condition.

Having owned and compared multiple early Gold Long Tail Centaurs over the years, this is one of the strongest examples I have encountered. Compared to many early units, this pedal exhibits a noticeably higher gain range while maintaining the dry, woody character and organic response that players often associate with the Fax Only period.

The low end is surprisingly full and authoritative, yet it never loses the slightly aged, harmonically rich texture that makes early Centaurs so special. In many ways, it feels like a perfect middle ground between the raw vintage personality of the earliest Klons and the refined practicality of later production units. It is exceptionally easy to integrate into a modern rig while still delivering the unmistakable character collectors seek from the early years.
