For sale is my 1999 Old Wave oval-hole A-style mandolin, serial #238, handcrafted by the late Bill Bussmann in New Mexico. I've owned the instrument since 2001.
This instrument features a Colorado Engelmann spruce top with maple back and sides and has the warm, open voice that Old Wave oval-hole mandolins are known for. It is a lightly appointed, player-focused instrument built during a highly regarded period of Bill's work.
One interesting piece of provenance: Bill later commented regarding Old Wave #239 (the consecutive instrument and twin to this mandolin) that it contained "the finest violin topwoodwood I ever used,".
