This phenomenal collector-level pedal is from the original run of VB-2s that were produced in Japan between 1982-1986 (the serial number on this one dates to June 1982). It uses a bucket-brigade device (BBD) chip to provide its legendary warm, smooth tone. The original VB-2 is a highly desirable classic to the extent that Boss reissued it as the WazaCraft VB-2W in 2016. Knobs adjust the vibrato effect’s rate and depth, while ‘Rise Time’ varies the waveform slope between fast (square wave) and gradual (sine wave). The 3-position Mode dial switches on the vibrato either continuously after the pedal is pressed (Latch) or only temporarily while the pedal is held down (Unlatch). In the third Mode position (Bypass), there is no effect even with the pedal depressed; the difference is that the dry signal does not run through the BBD circuit as it does even when the effect is off in Latch/Unlatch. This has the benefit of a slightly cleaner unaffected/dry sound. This pedal is in museum-quality, near-mint condition with only a few very tiny paint marks on one side. There are no dents, dings, rust or Velcro residue. Like all Boss pedals of this era, it runs best either on an internal 9V battery, or on the older Boss ACA-type power supply (unregulated 12V, not included). It sounds great and comes with its original box and Japanese-language manual (also near-mint). I will include a printed copy of the English-language manual.
