This vintage 4/4 adult sized German violin is the real deal. I believe it to be made in the 1920s. There is handwritten on the back plate "refinished in Fayetteville, WVA in November 24, 1967." It retains the original rattlesnake rattles inside the violin. During the 1900s in the mountains of West Virginia a custom was introduced of putting rattlesnake rattles in the violin to keep mice from chewing holes in the violin and nesting and also to keep spiders from building their webs inside. This violin has a deep reddish finish and with a high gloss varnish to bring out the beautiful dark red color. When I acquired this violin I named it "Red Bone". It has become one of my favorite players in my extensive collection. It is very solid and I professionally set it up with steel core strings which project well. I can only imagine the rich history this violin has already had and can continue to have for generations to come. The violin comes foam packed in a student quality case with bow, rosin, and cleaning cloth. It has been stored in a smoke-free and pet-free environment. If you would like to hear it played, message me your cell number and I'll text a short video. Free shipping in the continental United States. Will ship internationally but shipping fees (paid by the buyer) will apply.
