Vintage Ludwig 14x14 White Cortex Double-Headed Tom | Blue/Olive Badge | 6-Ply Shell | Late 70s Early 80s

Vintage Ludwig 14x14 double-headed tom in White Cortex finish.

Features a rounded Blue/Olive Ludwig badge, clear maple interior, tone control muffler, and Ludwig large classic lugs. Based on the badge, shell construction, and hardware, this appears to be a late-1970s to early-1980s Ludwig 6-ply shell.

This is an uncommon 14x14 mounted tom and a great candidate for someone restoring or expanding a White Cortex Ludwig kit.

The shell is round, structurally sound, and the bearing edges are clean and in very good condition. Chrome presents nicely overall with only minor age-related wear. The White Cortex wrap is clean and bright with typical signs of age.

Please note the mounting bracket arrangement. The current Ludwig bracket appears to use only two of the existing holes, and there are additional unused mounting holes beneath the bracket. I have discussed this with other Ludwig collectors and owners of similar drums, and it may be original to the drum or the result of a period modification. I cannot guarantee the mount is factory-correct, so please review all photos carefully and determine for yourself.

• Surface scratch/check line visible across two wrap panels near the lower portion of the shell (shown in photos). This does not appear to penetrate through the wrap and my fingernail does not catch deeply in it.

Overall, this is a clean and very presentable vintage Ludwig tom with a somewhat unusual mounting arrangement and an increasingly hard-to-find White Cortex finish.
