A true piece of audio history, because it is the "original" Shure KSM-313 before Shure bought the C&T Patents, Tooling, and Intellectual Property.

One of the very last microphones hand-assembled by Bob Crowley at Soundwave Research in Ashland, MA, Serial #141.

In 2007-2008, Bob was mentoring me with advice during the design and development of my Austin DIY Ribbon Microphone, (AustinMics.com). We traded microphones back and forth, and he helped me with small-business pointers. Much later, he later told me that one of my own Austin Ribbon Microphones was part of the collection of products and tooling that Shure purchased; and that Austin microphone is now in the Shure collection.

If you know the KSM-313, you know about Roswellite - Acoustic Carbon Nanotube Ladder material that Crowley & Tripp repurposed from their medical inventions into an acoustic transducer. This technology allows the ribbon to deliver the gorgeous, smooth, vintage warmth of a classic ribbon mic... but it is tough enough to put right in front of a screaming guitar cab or a heavy-hitting drummer without fear of blowing the element. Withstands P48 as well.

• Sound: Incredible transient response, rich lows, and a beautifully rolled-off top end. Dual-voiced (the front and back of the mic offer slightly different frequency responses for ultimate versatility.)
