I visited the Martin factory on a rainy day in 1998 and got a tour from CF Martin IV himself! There were lots of guitars available for playing in the waiting room and after I played a few I kept coming back to this model for its very balanced sound and easy playability. Then I went home and ordered one. I don't play acoustic guitar that much so this has spent the majority of the intervening years in its case where it always had a humidifier in the winter months. I took it to a, now retired, Martin repair man who was highly regarded in the central VA area and he tweaked the nut, installed a compensated bone saddle and endpin. It has always had light gauge swings on it. Sitka Spruce top, East Indian Rosewood back and sides, scalloped braces and rosewood fingerboard and bridge. There are no dents, dings or scrapes anywhere. It has been played but not enough to cause any fret wear.
