Today, for your consideration - a 1979 Martin M-38! This is one of Martin’s best kept secrets- a thinner bodied large bout acoustic. They have a particularly unique sound that is bold and full without losing any of the magic found in your standard 00 and 000 style guitars. This example is in very good condition for its age. There is a sealed top crack which does not penetrate the top all the way through and is very stable. These are pretty common on any older Martin. The action of the guitar is low in the lower register and a healthy medium in the upper register. It plays beautifully all the way up the neck. The frets are in great shape- there are no dead spots or fret outs. Please be mindful that the saddle is low, and in order to achieve a lower action you will need to reset the neck. We estimate that this will need to be performed in the next few years and have factored it into the price. For now, it is a perfect player and should remain as such with proper humidity. The guitar does have a passive piezo undersaddle pickup installed and we aren’t certain if it is factory or not, but it does sound quite nice. The guitar will ship in its original hard case with a vintage brown leather strap included.
