Here’s an awesome Telecaster inspired by Robben Ford’s 196o Telecaster.
I started with a Telecaster body from Boomdoom Wildwood guitars out of South Greenfield, Missouri. Please checkout their website. The body we selected is in Butterscotch Blonde. It’s super lightweight ash with a beautiful hand-sprayed nitrocellulose finish by Bloomdoom. Light relic, light checking.
Next, I selected a Fender licensed Vintage/Modern Telecaster Neck from Warmoth. Quarter-sawn maple shaft with flame along with a Dark Indian rosewood fretboard.
- 22 Medium Jumbo frets (6105)
- 10-16" Neck radius
- Standard neck profile (.81 at the first fret, .85 at the 12th fret)
- Fender Vintage Road Worn tuners installed.
- Modern Medium 1-11/16" nut width.
- GraphTech white Tusq nut.
The pickups are from Onamac Windery. The set, which they call the Robben Ford Inspired Telecaster pickup set were designed with input from Robben Ford. Please visit their website.
The neck pickup is constructed with their custom formulated alnico 5 magnets, SPN 42awg magnet wire, a deep drawn nickel plated nickel/silver alloy cover and waxed cloth push back leads.
The unique Strat-like sounding neck pickup provides rich fat tone while retaining super clarity and note separation without a hint of muddiness.
In addition to complimenting its tone the bridge pickup output is perfectly calibrated to the neck pickup. It has traditional late '60's construction with 42awg plain enamel wound to 7.25k using custom formula alnico 5 magnets white rope and gray bottom flatwork.
I used an Atlantic Custom Guitars 3 Way Wiring Harness:
- 1 Centralab 3-way Switch.
- 2 CTS solid Brass bushings and shafts 250k pots.
- 1 Mallory 150 Mustard Tone .047uf cap.
- 1 Switchcraft input Jack.
- Premium push back wiring.
Finally, lightly aged Fender hardware, Gotoh compensated brass saddles and an Allparts pickuard.
The guitar has seen very light playing, no gigging just studio time and local rehearsals Frets are 9/10. Fender G&L case shows some wear, all latches work. Keys included.
Guitar weighs 6.9 lbs.
Please let me know if you need any additional information or photos.
