The Nakamichi DR-10 is the very last 3-head cassette deck produced by Nakamichi — the ultimate culmination of decades of innovation by the brand that single-handedly redefined what the cassette was capable of. A direct descendant of the legendary Dragon, it has become one of the most sought-after decks in the world: produced at the very end of the cassette era, few were sold and even fewer survive in perfect condition.

The DR-10 uses a discrete 3-head system where the record, playback and erase heads are completely independent — allowing extremely precise magnetic and mechanical azimuth adjustment and sufficient distance between heads to eliminate any magnetic interference. The playback head has an ultra-fine 0.8-micron gap to reach a response up to 21 kHz, and its coil uses top-grade oxygen-free copper (OFC). The same crystal-core head as the Dragon.

The mechanism is a marvel: closed-loop dual-capstan diffused-resonance transport, with slightly different capstan diameters on the supply and take-up sides to offset flutter and suppress parasitic vibrations. The audio circuit is fully dual-mono to eliminate all crosstalk, with a DC amplifier stage free of coupling capacitors and a pure Class A recording amplifier.

This unit is in perfect condition: flawless cosmetics, 100% functional, fully serviced. The playback head is in near-new condition — an absolutely crucial point on these machines, as the head is the irreplaceable heart of the deck. A very rare opportunity to acquire a DR-10 in this condition.
