1995 Tom Anderson Drop Top – Translucent Purple w/ Brazilian Rosewood Fretboard

Up for sale is one of the finest Tom Anderson guitars I’ve had the pleasure of owning.

This 1995 Drop Top is finished in a stunning Translucent Purple over what is, without question, one of the most beautiful quilted maple tops I’ve ever seen. The figuring is deep, three-dimensional, and absolutely comes alive under different lighting angles. Combined with the natural binding and matching headstock, it’s the kind of guitar that stops people in their tracks.

Beyond its looks, this guitar has all the ingredients that made early Andersons so special: a figured maple top over basswood, hard rock maple neck, vintage tremolo, and—most notably—a Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The Brazilian board adds a richness and character that is increasingly difficult to find on modern instruments.

Because originality is important on guitars of this caliber, I reached out directly to Tom Anderson Guitarworks and verified the specifications. The build records confirm the guitar was completed on September 22, 1995, and all of the major specifications match the factory records, including the Brazilian rosewood fretboard. Everything appears to be original to the guitar.
