Sonically, the TD 21 has a lot going on. It’s very bright on-axis, giving presence and clarity when placed directly in front of a source. But here's where it gets special: being omnidirectional, it captures sound from all directions — yet there’s a distinct mid/bass-heavy proximity effect no matter where you’re speaking or playing from. This creates a unique tonal shaping tool: for example, when recording a guitar amp, you can subtly adjust the high-end detail by rotating the microphone instead of moving it.

This unusual behavior makes it an excellent creative mic, perfect for experimenting with instrument tone or adding color to speech recordings.
