Up for sale is an incredibly rare, beautiful piece of Italian guitar-making history: a 1960s Bartolini 40V Supertone. Built by Alvaro Bartolini in the legendary instrument hub of Recanati, Italy, this guitar dates back to the height of the mid-60s space-age guitar boom.

During this golden era, Italian accordion manufacturers pivoted their factories to supply the sudden global demand for rock 'n' roll electric guitars. The result? Mind-blowing, avant-garde instruments like this Supertone. Instead of a traditional Fender or Gibson style pickup selector blade, this guitar features a highly unique array of mechanical push-buttons integrated directly into the side of the body. Derived directly from accordion bass-button engineering, this multi-button matrix allows you to engage distinct pickup combinations and preset tone filters for a spectacular variety of true '60s garage-rock jangle, bite, and warm jazz textures.

• The Push-Button System: Fully tested and operational. The mechanical button matrix lets you pop pickups in and out of the circuit with an incredibly satisfying mechanical "click," giving you unique combinations that a standard 3-way or 5-way switch simply cannot replicate.

• Very Good Vintage Shape: For an instrument that is roughly 60 years old, this guitar is in phenomenal shape. The body finish retains a gorgeous luster with only minor, honest vintage checking, light surface swirling, and small edge scuffs to be expected from an instrument of this vintage.
• Solid Structural Health: The neck joint is completely tight, the headstock is secure, and there are no structural wood splits, cracks, or crude modifications. At a comfortable 7.5 lbs, it balances remarkably well on a strap.

The entire guitar will then be safely floated inside a heavy-duty, double-walled guitar shipping carton packed tight with dense void-fill to prevent movement from any angle.
