For sale is a 1958 WFL, 5.5" x 14", 6 lug, White Marine Pearl wrap snare drum that is in excellent condition yet showing the typical aging signs of a 68 year old instrument. I've researched and researched but have never been able to determine what model it is. Hopefully your own efforts will yield better results, and if you're successful please clue me in.
I don't know how many owners it had prior to my purchasing it, but I bought it from a friend in 1976 when I was 14 years old and had developed an interest in drumming. He wasn't the original owner either. It's in the same condition it was when I bought it other than being disassembled and well cleaned a couple of times, having both the batter and resonant side heads replaced twice, and having the snare wire straps replaced once.
It does not have the original rims or strainer/throw off. Three of the tension rods aren't original, and I don't know if the snare wires are either. Like I said though, everything is as it was when I purchased it. The rims are stick savers, although I don't know their make, and the strainer/throw off is a 1960s era Star/Hoshino Gakki 940 model original to Tama.
Please peruse the photos, feel welcome to ask any questions you might have and thanks for looking.
