The coveted R9, focused on pinpoint accuracy in replicating the most sought after era of Les Paul manufacture ever. The LP Standards of 1959 are said to be the apex of Gibson's 'Golden Era' of production and that's certainly reflected in their current market value! So to appease an audience eager to get their hands on the real deal, Gibson launched a line of hyper-specific, premium vintage reissues.
Finished in Nitro and given the VOS treatment to mimic genuine wear, the lacquer checking over the lightly yellowed burst is gorgeous and falls somewhere between an Ice-Tea and a Lemonburst, allowing the figuring of the perfectly matched two-piece Maple flame top to poke through.
The unpotted Alnico III Custombuckers recreate the lower impedance depth, clarity and nuance of vintage PAFS, which explode into life when given the opportunity to play at higher volumes or high gain in the signal path. Neck profile is everything for guitars in this era, 1959 is widely recognised as the year Gibson perfected the Les Paul profile, and the '59 Medium C on this burst is a faithful recreation, offering a great balance of comfort and playability.
It comes with its OHSC and docs, and of course our 2 year set up and servicing warranty is included in the price.
