Made in Japan between 1980 and 1982, this Greco Super Power Les Paul Custom Black Beauty 3PU is a fantastic example from the golden era of Japanese guitar production, combining classic Les Paul Custom styling with a rare three-pickup configuration.
The guitar is in very good condition overall, especially considering its age. It shows normal signs of use accumulated over more than four decades, including scratches on the back of the body, a few dings, and minor dents throughout the instrument. These cosmetic imperfections are entirely consistent with a well-maintained vintage guitar and do not affect its playability. The frets are in good condition.
It features a set-neck construction with a 24.75" scale length, mahogany body with maple top, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard with block inlays, and 22 frets.
The guitar is equipped with two original Greco Super Power humbuckers in the neck and middle positions, while the bridge pickup has been upgraded to a genuine DiMarzio DP100 Super Distortion. This classic combination delivers warm vintage tones from the neck and middle pickups, while the legendary Super Distortion provides powerful output, rich sustain, and the aggressive midrange character that defined countless rock recordings of the late 1970s and 1980s.
Additional features include a Tune-O-Matic bridge, stop tailpiece, multi-ply body and headstock binding, cream plastics, and the traditional Les Paul control layout with independent volume and tone controls for each pickup.
The Black Beauty styling, split-diamond headstock inlay, three-pickup configuration, and vintage Japanese craftsmanship give this instrument a striking appearance and make it considerably rarer than standard two-pickup Les Paul Custom models.
The guitar looks, plays, and sounds excellent, with the DiMarzio upgrade complementing the original Greco pickups perfectly while retaining the character of the instrument.
This is a fantastic-looking and great-sounding vintage Japanese instrument that definitely deserves attention, especially for players and collectors looking for a rare early-1980s Greco Black Beauty with authentic Fujigen-era craftsmanship.
