For sale is a Moog CP-251 Control Processor - custom Maple end cheeks
SN: 486
The CP-251 provides classic modular control voltage outputs and inputs including:
- Lag processor (slew rate)
- Sample and Hold
- LFOs
- Mixers
- Attenuators
- 4-way mult
It can be used to provide additional CV input into Voyager's CV inputs such as filter, pan, wave, pitch, user-selected mods and rate for LFO & envelope, via the Voyager’s red collars. But it can also be used as an external CV source for any other electronic music or modular gear (obviously, to use with Eurorack, you need 1/4-inch to 1/8 inch cables).
More details on the CP-251 are at the bottom of this description.
Comes with:
- Original product box
- User manual (plus extras) [NOTE: There's a VX-351 document included in a couple of the photo by mistake, it is not included]
- Custom maple side cheeks (Apparently, I was the only Voyager customer who requested matching maple side cheeks for my CP-251.)
- Original power supply
Condition
- The CP-251 works perfectly.
- It is in Excellent cosmetic condition with only two minor blemishes, some scratches in the front panel next to "Four-Input Mixer" and a small dent on the right maple end cheek.
- The Original product box shows wear, and the User manual has a piece of random paper stuck to the inside back page, otherwise, Mint.
- Stored in my smoke-free studio since i bought it new.
What's up with the Maple?
When i bought my Voyager Signature edition in 2002, I got the maple cabinet - for aesthetic and durability reasons. At the same time I acquired my CP-251 as well as a VX-351. I got Moog to custom make me maple end cheeks for both units.
I'm also selling my Maple Voyager Signature Edition and it comes with a VX-351 CV Expander - with the Maple end cheeks. Buy my Voyager and the CP-251 - and you'll own the only complete maple custom cabinetry for the Voyager and its breakout boxes on the market!
About the CP-251
The Moog CP-251 Control Processor (often called the "Moogerfooger CP-251") is a passive/active CV (Control Voltage) routing and generation module designed to expand the capabilities of Moogerfooger pedals, Moog synths like the Voyager or Mother-32, and other voltage-controlled analog gear. It does not generate audio on its own, but acts as a central "hub" to create, modify, and mix control voltages, bringing modular-style, complex modulation to semi-modular setups.
Key Features and Functions
- Dual Waveform LFO: A voltage-controlled Low Frequency Oscillator with both triangle and square wave outputs, ranging from 0.2 Hz to 50 Hz.
- Sample and Hold (S&H): Generates random voltages, with a dedicated rate control that can be triggered externally or internally (via the noise generator).
- Lag Processor: Smooths out sharp control signals (like a square wave), allowing for glide/portamento effects or transforming signals into different shapes (e.g., shaping a square wave into a saw wave).
- CV Mixer: A four-input mixer with inverting and non-inverting outputs, useful for blending LFOs, noise, or other voltages to create complex modulation sources.
- Attenuators (2): Dedicated controls to reduce the amplitude of a CV signal, which is crucial for fine-tuning modulation depth.
- Four-Way Multiple (Mult): Splits one CV signal into four, allowing a single source (e.g., LFO) to control multiple parameters simultaneously.
- Noise Generator: Provides a white noise source for audio or control signals.
