Up for sale is a Black Hawk Amplifiers Mithrandir Blackened boutique harmonic octave fuzz pedal. Inspired by the classic Boss FZ-2 concept but developed along its own path, the Mithrandir has become one of Black Hawk Amplifiers' most sought-after designs, delivering massive fuzz tones, rich harmonic octave textures, and exceptional tonal flexibility.

The Mithrandir features six controls: Bass, Volume, Treble, Gain, Clean-to-Wet Blend, and Octave Blend. Dual footswitches provide independent control, with the left footswitch engaging the main effect and the right footswitch activating the octave circuit.

Originally conceived as a customer-requested take on the legendary Boss FZ-2, the Mithrandir evolved into a unique design utilizing an LM386N and UA741CP op-amp combination along with a single 2N5457 transistor. The result is a more balanced and even-tempered harmonic octave fuzz character than many traditional octave fuzz designs, with powerful low-end response and excellent note definition.

The Clean-to-Wet Blend control allows players to dial in anything from subtle texture enhancement to fully saturated fuzz tones, while the Octave Blend control lets users mix in the harmonic octave effect to taste. Black Hawk Amplifiers designed the pedal to excel when pushed hard, rewarding players who aren't afraid to crank the controls and explore its full sonic range.

Commonly recommended settings include Bass and Volume fully clockwise, Treble at noon, Gain fully clockwise, Clean-to-Wet Blend fully clockwise, and Octave Blend around 10–11 o'clock for a balanced octave response.
