Framus 5/3 1950s 60s - Camping Stencil Black Vintage Acoustic 00 Parlor Guitar

This is a Framus 5/3 in black with the rare "Camping" stencil. Made in the heart of Bavaria in the '50s or '60s, this one is holding strong in practically original condition.

I've had this for several years and kept it in mostly un-worked-on condition. I did a little cleaning, restitched the end of the original strap, put some strings on it, and kept it safe.

It plays pretty well. I left the action on the high side. It sits at about 2.75 mm (or 0.11") at the 12th fret. It could be lowered at the saddle if you wanted to modify it for optimal playing, but it was comfortable enough for me to keep it factory. It plays cleanly up and down the neck. The neck is straight and the top is flat. Since it's in original condition, I did not make a video of it. There are other reference videos available online that demo the sound of these.

This guitar has a 1.75" nut width. It has a zero fret with a string spacing of just over 1.5". The fretboard is flat, no radius. The neck profile is C-shaped. The string scale is 25".

This one has the fancy inlaid logo, the fancy swirled tuner buttons, the trussrod, and original strap with camping motif.

It is a flat top with an arched back. It has an overall length of 38". 13.5" wide at the lower bout. 10.25" wide at the upper bout. I believe it is laminate, but I can't say for sure, and I can't identify any of the woods except for the fretboard, which appears to be ebony.

The glossy black finish has a lot of checking, but the wood has no cracks, and all the seams and joints are tight and secure. There is a tiny nick on the side of the upper bout on the bass side as shown in one of the last pics.

It's a real beauty.

It ships swaddled in bubble wrap inside a vintage chipboard case, packed securely in a sturdy box.
