The 286A is a hand-built American tube preamp inspired by the legendary Ampex 601 circuit and features a unique Class A signal path with EF86 and 12AY7 tubes on each channel. It can deliver everything from clean, detailed tube warmth to heavily saturated vintage-style coloration depending on how hard you drive the gain and output stages.

What makes the 286A special is its ability to remain articulate and open while still providing substantial harmonic richness. It occupies a sonic space somewhere between classic British tube console tones and vintage American tube gear, making it equally at home on vocals, drums, guitars, bass, room microphones, and mix bus coloration.
