This Bass Drum has a unique place in British recording history. This drum is a genuine survivor of the 1960's/70's London session scene, the golden era of British Pop culture created in the myriad of studios in the Soho area of London.

Mounted on the top of the shell is an original, fully legible vintage studio booking decal that reads "THE RHYTHM SECTION- TELEPHONE 01 437 5085. This specific number belonged to Themes International Music Ltd music agency 174 Wardour Street, Soho who were responsible for booking musicians for all of the top sessions of the time. This drum served as part of a house kit played by an elite 'inner circle' of session drummers. Most likely it was played by Brian Bennet (The Shadows) and legendary session drummer Clem Cattini who drummed on numerous hit records for different artists of this period. Hence this drum can most likely be heard on major popular recordings of this era.

All of the fittings are original. Tear drop lugs, tension rods and hardware are original as is the batter head skin. There is no front head, hoop or fittings. This is a 20" Bass Drum which was preferred by most drummers and producers for it's tighter 'poppier' sound than the bigger 22"model.
