Vintage Slingerland 20x14 Bass Drum – Black/Gold Niles Badge – 1960s

For players and collectors seeking an authentic piece of American drum history, this vintage Slingerland 20x14 bass drum delivers the warm, resonant tone and classic craftsmanship that made Slingerland one of the most respected drum makers of the 20th century.

Featuring the desirable Black/Gold Niles badge and serial number 57905, this bass drum was produced during the 1960s Black & Gold badge era. While Slingerland serial numbers are not exact dating tools, the badge style and serial range place this drum firmly within the mid-1960s period. The Black & Gold Niles badge was used from approximately late 1962 through early 1970.

The 20x14 size remains one of the most versatile vintage bass drum configurations ever produced, offering a warm, focused low end with excellent response and portability. Whether you're building a period-correct Slingerland kit, restoring a vintage outfit, or looking for a classic recording bass drum, this shell provides the unmistakable sound and feel that made Slingerland drums a favorite among generations of drummers.

Condition

This drum is in very good vintage condition and remains round with no cracks, structural issues, or broken hardware. All hardware currently installed on the drum is original. The original rail consolette tom mount and bass drum-mounted cymbal arm assembly were removed by a previous owner and are not included.

The chrome hardware remains mostly clean and presents well overall. Some components exhibit typical age-related rust, pitting, and minor chrome flaking, but none of it is extensive. The drum remains structurally solid and fully functional.
