Selling this player-grade 1959 Gibson J-50 I just bought. It is an excellent guitar but I have big hands and the neck is just a hair too small for me. This is going to be someone’s favorite guitar as it’s an incredible sounding and playing vintage Gibson

These are some additional measurements i took.

Nut width: 1.679

9th fret width: 1.988

12th fret width: 2.066

1st fret depth: .855

9th fret depth: .961

Weight : 4lbs 5oz

Here’s a demo video/description from the previous owner:

“This guitar has been around the block, but it sure sounds great and is fun to play. The tone is open and airy, and it has a “snap” to the response that makes it particularly fun to dig in. The neck profile is the characteristic Gibson “C” shape, and the nut width is 1 11/16”. The serial number is pretty faded, but you can definitely make out an “S” at the beginning of it, which dates the guitar to 1959. The sound itself speaks to that, as Gibson dreads tend to tighten up a little bit in ‘60 and onward compared to their ‘50s predecessors.

It is priced fairly low because of a few repairs, the primary ones being a replaced bridge and bridgeplate. This guitar had a large oversized bridge on it so luthier Jack Dillen removed it and installed a period-correct Brazilian Rosewood bridge. He touched up the footprint of the former bridge about as well as one could…it isn’t pretty, but it’s actually now very smooth in that area, and it’s structurally sound. There are two cleated top cracks and two longer cleated back cracks. It’s possible that the back center seam had separated at one point, but it is tight now. The tuning machines are original, but the buttons have been replaced. Jack performed a great setup on this J-50, so it plays great all the way up the fretboard! The finish is mostly original, although it’s possible that the finish on the back of the neck was sanded at some point (or it was simply played a ton). There are, of course, plenty of nicks, dings, and scratches across the entire surface.”
