I purchased this from ColePicksVintage. here’s his description of the mic and what he did to it.
“Here's an early 1940's Shure 508 Stratoliner Ribbon Microphone. Shure released the Stratoliner in both a Crystal and Ribbon option (although for whatever reason the ribbon model was called a Dynamic). I've gone in and installed a new ribbon, as well as added a new transformer in this microphone. These have a very unique directional sound for a ribbon microphone due to the shape of the body, and low output. I would recommend it as an effects microphone for use on guitar amps, drums, or other loud sources. Keep in mind that this microphone was made in the 1940's and will need a good amount of clean gain for best results. This one has its original connector which was updated with a new XLR cable. Grab this unique Shure 508 ribbon from the 1940's!”
