1979 Peavey T-40, all original with contour case, in what I will call good condition.
Please note the following:
Condition & Functionality
- Weight: 11 lbs. 8 oz.
- All electronics function exactly as they should, with no crackling, static, or scratchy potentiometers.
- Truss rod operates smoothly and has full adjustment in both directions.
Cosmetic Condition
- The front of the body and body edges have been very well preserved, showing only a few minor dents or dings.
- The back of the body exhibits moderate buckle rash/worming consistent with normal use and the instrument's age.
- The original pickguard has begun to develop the common age-related "bubbling" between the pickups and near the neck pocket. This is strictly cosmetic and has no impact on playability or functionality.
- The chrome hardware remains in excellent vintage condition with little, if any, visible pitting or corrosion.
- The back of the neck has a few small indentations on the treble side around the 1st–3rd frets. These are minor and do not affect playability.
- There is also some light finish worming on the back of the neck consistent with decades of careful use.
Construction & Setup
- There is a noticeable gap on the treble side of the neck pocket. Based on documented examples from early production instruments, this appears to be a typical factory manufacturing tolerance rather than damage or movement.
- Early examples of this model are also known to feature a neck pocket angle designed to complement the bridge geometry. Accordingly, the factory Micro-Tiltâ„¢ neck adjustment is currently being utilized to achieve optimal string action and setup.
Case
- The original case shows typical exterior wear, including scrapes and scratches, but remains structurally sound.
- The locking latch is currently in the locked position, and I do not have the key. Because of this, that latch cannot be closed and appears to have been pried open by a previous owner at some point. The remaining latches function normally.
Overall, this bass is in great shape considering it is 46 years old.
I do not have this listed as "make an offer" but I will entertain *reasonable* offers sent via message to me.
Please ask any questions you have about the bass before purchase as it is being sold "as described".
