Made in Japan. If you’re a musician’s musician who cares more about tone than the name on the headstock, then this one’s for you. I never thought I’d sell this guitar, but my direction musically is leading me to bass as well as guitar so I have to sacrifice some of my gear to afford this new musical adventure. I own three ESPs (including a full body USA eclipse) and this one stands with, and at times supersedes, them all. This is a 1998 (likely) semi-hollow eclipse. It‘s definitely from the late 90s confirmed. I bought it used a year ago and added a bunch of mods that brought up the total cost I paid for the guitar to $2,500, so it is currently priced accordingly, but fair offers will certainly be considered. Weight of the guitar is approximately 7.8 lbs. Neck is a little thinner than a typical 60‘s style Les Paul. Roasted neck. If I could describe the sound of the guitar in three words: vocal, responsive, and incredibly versatile. Bolt-on construction provides clarity and snap, and the guitar delivers outstanding sustain and resonance. Comes with premium ESP hardshell case (see pictured). Here are the mods:
New Gotoh locking tuners.
Completely set up by my professional guitar tech who has worked with Kiss, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and many others. He also added refined coil splitting for each pickup and out of phase abilities with push pull knobs. The knob closest to the bridge pickup is the one that creates the out of phase configuration. And the other two knobs split the pickups.
Outfitted with brand new Carondelet boutique Dreambuckers, I purposefully created a guitar that excels at any style. It sustains for days. And it handles anything from metal to jazz at a level that I could comfortably put up against a custom shop instrument. I will also include the original ESP pickups. This is a player‘s guitar. Perfect for recording and gigging. It has a few dings and scratches, as well as minor discoloration (please see photos) but this guitar is in excellent condition for its age. It needs a player that will play it into the ground and love it. I’ve included some info about the pickups below. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. Cheers!
“Dreambuckers are the ultimate classic-meets-modern humbucker duet. Dreambuckers use a hybrid magnet design. The bridge pickup is driven by a vintage PAF-like Alnico 2 magnet, and the neck pickup an Alnico 3, a less magnetic and subsequently more woody and organic alloy. But both retro-flavored pickups also have Alnico V magnets found in melodic yet aggressive modern rock humbuckers.
The hybrid magnet design mixes with a slightly overwound vintage-inspired coil blueprint to create a warm yet sparkly, harmonically alive, and ultra touch sensitive pickup package meeting the needs of every guitar genre.
