CUSTOM MADE 175 HOLLOW-BODY GUITAR. A friend's dad was in the Navy and stationed in Japan. He came back to California in 1976 with this guitar. The moment I saw the guitar I wanted it and eventually bought it. Since then, I have replaced almost all the pertinent parts of the guitar. Gibson Deluxe tuners, bone nut, refretted, medium jumbo frets still have 90% life left. An improved Switchcraft toggle. A Gibson Tuneomatic bridge. Gibson top hat knobs. I was going to put Gibson Humbuckers in the guitar, but these originals sounded so good I left them alone. My guess as to who crafted this guitar would be someone with impeccable work habits and luthier knowledge. I'd say someone from Teisco or maybe Kawai. The workmanship is second to none. If you want proof as to the age all you have to do is look at the one picture that shows the toggle switch next to the binding on the guitar. After many years the toggle cap is cream in color. Well, the binding on this guitar was that color when I bought it, but the patina is now a deep yellow. That's something you CANNOT FAKE. With this guitar you have an advantage over a Gibson Byrdland or a 175. Why, because this guitar's neck reaches the body at the 17th fret. All Gibson models' necks reach the body at the 15th fret. A little more room to move can make a big difference. Ok, so you can pay thousands for a Gibson of comparable age, or you can buy this gorgeous guitar for a lot less money. Trust me, this guitar is one stunning example of superior craftsmanship. Playing this guitar is a silky-smooth ride. The case is worthy and the only home this guitar knows. I'm sorry, but I'm going to keep the Beavis and Butthead decal. I've included a video so you can see and hear the guitar shine. Thanks for having a look.
