This vintage Lincoln Les Paul Custom is 50 years old (lawsuit era) and in great condition. It still has the original Zebra Maxon Super 70 pickups and electronics. While it is rare to see the premium, Gibson-style braided metal shielding on standard budget import guitars of this era, the highly regarded Matsumoku factory built these higher-tier Lincoln Custom models to closely mirror premium Ibanez models. The factory specifically utilized these high-quality, braided-shield leads on their elite Super 70 pickups during the early-to-mid 1970s. Note: (there's a couple of mismatched p/u mounting screws). The body has a natural exotic wood top with beautifully pronounced, vertical dark lines running through the grain. It is not a shiny finish. Rather than standard maple or painted mahogany, the Matsumoku factory occasionally built high-tier models featuring an exotic, exposed-grain wood veneer on the carved top. The aged cream binding around the body edges has naturally yellowed over fifty years, contrasting beautifully against the dark, organic wood. The back has some discoloring and the "Made In Japan" neck plate is upside down. About this super slim neck, when the Matsumoku factory built high-tier models for brands like Ibanez, Lincoln, and Aria Pro II during the 1970s lawsuit era, they did something unique. They often took this classic split-crown (three-point crown inlay) design—which Gibson rarely used on solid-body guitars—and paired it with Les Paul Custom configurations. The headstock, early 1970s models feature an "open-book" shape that mimics Gibson's design perfectly. The previous owner blacked out the original house brand logo and added a Gibson decal, it was incredibly common in the 70's. However, the core wood is fantastic Matsumoku craftsmanship, and the electronics cavity proves its true pedigree with it's completely untouched 1974 factory wiring and highly sought-after original Maxon Super 70 pickups. This guitar comes with the original hard case (still in great shape 50 years later). I've photographed this guitar in natural lighting, at all different angles and even the back of one pickup and the electronics cavity. Please check out all photos carefully and watch the short demo video to see and hear how sounds. I've described this guitar as accurately as I can and I'm selling it as described. No returns. If you have any questions at all, please message me. Thanks for looking.
