Great Mandolin! This is an early 201's MD504. It has a mature classic oval hole Eastman tone with rich tone and lot's of sustain. Now that I'm almost 70 I'm needing a wider nut for arthritic fingers otherwise I wouldn't part with it.
Solid, hand carved archtop spruce top and hand carved maple back and sides. Ebony fretboard. The finish is different from the current model. It is more burgundy than brown. It does have a few nicks, shown in the photo's. It looks like it was nicked by the installation of an arm rest. This is how I bought it. the top finish has very small "bubble"s in it which you have to look close to see. Perhaps this was originally a B spec. You have to get it under strong light and look close to see them.
However, once you start playing none of these matter. It just sounds amazing. It comes with an almost new Eastman gig bag.
