• for sale extremely rare factory custom TB2000 Oct 1978 Travis Bean Koa in incredible condition.
• 1 of 2 custom TB2000 basses with this neck and knob config, made for the same friend & TB employee
• engraved signed and dated on the back by Travis Bean.
• this lightweight, thin body, wide horn TB2000 bass was made during or after the factory shutdown for a friend/employee/bandmate of Travis'. so it benefits from the better pickups, better shape, lighter weight, and most importantly the newer superior neck construction. personally, having owned so many Travis Beans, my interest only lies in these late 1978 or 1979 instruments because of the thinner bodies, wider horns and better neck construction. they're better looking, lighter and play & sound better across the board.
• custom options or factory modded Travis Bean guitars were almost unheard of. unless you were a good friend or in the Rolling Stones or Aerosmith, custom options weren't offered. this one has a custom neck shape, custom 3 knob configuration, custom serial number for Mitch, and what was considered by the employees to be maybe the single nicest looking piece of koa the factory ever saw. 3 of Mitch's basses had custom serials for him.
• if you've never had a chance to play these later serial guitars or basses, they are simply astonishing, and superior to the earlier versions in every way. condition is incredible, but so is the feel & playability. to me the 4 custom Mitch basses are irresistible and all 4 are unique. this is the only one of the 4 that is in natural finish. it's obvious that extra attention was put into Mitch's guitars, they are all incredible, perfect specimens owned and cherished greatly by him their entire life.
• totally 100% original and unmolested in any way. this one plays like a dream, offering incredible natural resonance you'll feel in your body. as good as they come. exceptional design and performance, mind blowing in every way.
• very rare chance to own not only a custom TB bass, but the creme de la creme.
• extremely clean with with little to no wear, this bass has spent it's life in the case
• includes the original case in fine shape. this case is superb as it has the original 1978 Atom band stencil and sticker. Atom was a band that opened for Van Halen before they broke out.
