A rare opportunity to own a piece of recording history.
The CMV 563 paired with an original M7 capsule is one of the most sought-after vintage tube microphone combinations ever made. Revered for its warm, detailed, larger-than-life sound, the M7 capsule shares its lineage with the legendary Neumann U47 and is prized by engineers and collectors alike.
This microphone was purchased directly from Lord Huron's longtime engineer and was used on Ben Schneider's vocals during the recording of Strange Trails (photo included). I purchased it in 2016 and have since used it on my own album, You And Me For Now, as well as numerous other recordings.
Highlights
• Original Neumann Gefell CMV 563 tube microphone
• Original M7 PVC-diaphragm capsule
• Serial #4296
• Rich, classic tube character with exceptional vocal presence
• Highly collectible studio and recording-history piece
• Proven recording pedigree
Included are the original power supply and accessories shown.
Please note:
• Microphone operates on 220V and must be used with the included step-up transformer.
• The German note on the power supply translates to: "Do not lift the ground."
• Output wiring is currently phase-inverted. This is a non-issue when using the mic alone, but if combining with other microphones, simply invert polarity at the preamp or in your DAW.
A beautiful and increasingly rare vintage microphone with a unique provenance and an unmistakable sound.
