Offered for sale is a Yamaha YFL-677H professional flute, a high-level instrument from Yamaha’s respected 600 Series. The YFL-677H belongs to Yamaha’s professional flute range and is designed to bridge the gap between advanced conservatory instruments and Yamaha’s top handmade models, offering many of the design principles and playing characteristics associated with their higher-end flutes.
The 600 Series is built around a sterling silver headjoint, body and footjoint, with silver-plated nickel-silver keywork. Yamaha classifies the series as professional level, and the YFL-677 configuration features open-hole ring keys, an offset G key system and a Split E mechanism. The “H” designation indicates the B footjoint, extending the instrument’s range down to low B and contributing to the fuller, more projecting character associated with this configuration. Yamaha’s professional 500/600/700 Series flutes are individually adjusted and test-played by experienced craftsmen during production.
This particular flute has been played and should therefore be considered a used instrument rather than a collector-condition example, but overall it presents very well. The silver surfaces retain an attractive bright finish, the keywork appears clean and the instrument has been carefully stored in its fitted Yamaha case and outer case cover. Please study the photographs closely, as they form an important part of the description and show the actual instrument being offered.
There is one cosmetic imperfection that I want to describe clearly and honestly. At the end of the main body section, around the connection area where the footjoint attaches, there is a small deformation/dent to the edge of the tube. This can be seen in the close-up photograph. It is localized to the end of the section and is the principal visible defect I am aware of. I have deliberately photographed the area closely so that a prospective buyer can judge its extent before purchasing. Because of this, I am listing the flute conservatively as being in Good Condition rather than describing it as excellent or near-mint.
Apart from this noted area, the instrument presents as a very attractive professional Yamaha flute with normal signs of previous ownership and use. As with any used professional woodwind instrument, a new owner may wish to have their preferred technician inspect, regulate or service the flute according to their individual playing preferences after purchase. No claim is made that it has recently undergone a complete professional overhaul unless specifically stated.
The flute includes its original fitted Yamaha hard case, together with the Yamaha padded outer case/cover shown in the photographs. Both the instrument and cases are pictured extensively so that the buyer can see exactly what is included.
The YFL-677H is particularly well suited to an advanced student, conservatory-level player, serious amateur or professional musician looking for a sterling-silver Yamaha with the versatility of a B footjoint without stepping all the way into the significantly more expensive handmade-series market. Yamaha’s professional flutes have long been valued for their precise mechanism, consistency, reliable intonation and balanced response, and the 677H represents a particularly capable configuration within that range.
Condition: Good
Please examine all photographs carefully before purchasing, particularly the detailed photograph showing the small deformation at the body-to-footjoint connection area. The photographs are of the exact flute being sold and are intended to provide an accurate representation of its cosmetic condition.
