Always wanted the tone and vibe of a 70s era P Bass but dont have the salary to blow on one?
This bass will hit that mark at an 1/8 of the price.

From what I could find digging through internet archives, these instruments were produced in Japan by Matsumoku and imported by C. Bruno & Son Inc. and branded with the "Ventura" name. Im guessing this example was made around '76 after comparing it with a few 70's Ventura Inst. catalogs.

Cosmetically its not in perfect condition sporting some scrapes and dings in the finish in a few places along the edge of the body (shown in pictures), but overall is in fairly clean shape for being a 50 year old instrument.

The single mini-humbucker pickup has some surprisingly fat output, very "wooly" and "warm" but can still produce some bite in the higher frequencies if you dig in. I can record a sound demo with an iPhone upon request!

The strings on it are old as hell, dirty, and nowhere near as bright as a fresh set of Rotosound 66's, but they're what came on the bass when I got it and kept them on since I dug the sound.
The frets are narrow and short, if you like modern medium-jumbo frets this isn't the bass for you. Theres no major dings or pitting on the frets and the bass doesn't have any intonation issues you'd get from uneven fret wear.

The neck profile is kinda funky, somewhere in between a P and a J. The thinner nut width (1.455") isnt as extreme as most J Basses, but there is a noticeable taper from the neck heel to the nut. The neck profile is a pretty middle of the road D-shape you'd expect from lawsuit eras japanese instruments, IYKYK.

Comes with a slick hardshell case and the original chromed-out pickup and bridge covers, I removed them but if you like shit getting in the way while you play, you're welcome to pop them back on.
