Yamaha Club Custom kit, in Black Wood finish. 12x8, 14x13, 18x14. Never played! I know, shame on me. I hate me. Ha ha! One of the last MIJ kits (other than PHX) to roll off the line, before nearly all of Yamaha's drum manufacturing moved to China. This era of Club Custom was definitely one of the most unique kits Yamaha ever made. They are becoming harder and harder to find, and you'd be hard pressed to find one in better shape than this one; essentially new. Black Wood is arguably the nicest finish from this line, but unquestionably the classiest. It's a shame that these did not continue to be made after the manufacturing move. The only thing I can think is that it was going to be harder to source the Kapur wood for the shells. Comes with the long single tom arm, as seen in the pictures. The bass drum will ship in an Ahead Armor case inside of the main box.
**FULL DISCLOSURE**
The bass drum began its life in the Dark Wood finish. I purchased these drums right at the end of the line, and there were no longer any Black Wood 18" bass drums to be found. I employed the services of a well-respected professional guitar and drum finisher, Marty Bell, of Marty Bell Finishing, who has been doing custom finishing for major guitar companies for decades. He's one of the best. The matte finish on the bass drum is very, very close to the original Black Wood on the tom and floor tom. The bass drum has just a hair less sheen, so slightly more matte. In the very last picture I took a close up of the tom mounted on the bass drum, so you can see the finishes side by side. You'll know because I'm telling you, but nobody else will ever have any idea there's a difference. For reference: **I tried to provide Marty Bell's website, but Reverb apparently has a problem with people including URLs, so they removed it. Whatever. Please Google 'Marty Bell Finishing' for information about him and his work on his website.
There's plenty of information to be found online about the 2010s Club Customs (not to be mistaken with the 90s Club Customs, which were nothing like these). You should still be able to find the Steve Jordan videos, but one of my favorites was the Tommy Igoe video, with his Birdland Big Band.
Please note that I will ONLY ship to the address that is associated with your payment method, so please don't email after purchasing and ask to have it shipped somewhere else. It voids any protections I have as a seller, and is a common scam technique. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
