The 1997 Gibson The Paul II is a lightweight, "stripped-down" version of the Les Paul, designed as a more affordable and comfortable alternative to the standard models. Part of Gibson's "All-American" series produced between 1996 and 1998, it is characterized by a significantly thinner body (approximately two-thirds the thickness of a standard Les Paul) and a rear "belly cut" contour for better ergonomics.
