Crazy Good Guitar!!
I cannot begin to tell you how good this thing sounds!! (see YouTube video) When I bought it from the Guitar Store, I was told by their rep that it was comparable to a Martin Custom Shop or a Huss & Dalton in quality. I've since had the chance to play a few Martin CS's and would wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment. This is from the first year of production (March 05) of the Revival Series that was developed by Jason Bowerman and Preston Thompson....based on Preston's detailed analysis of Charles Sawtelle's 1937 Martin D-28.
There is NO WAY that I would ever get rid of this guitar if it had a Modified V neck on it!!! The neck shape is more of a Mod Low Oval neck shape, and I just cannot get along with it...my hand cramps after 30 min of playing in the style that I play! I even contacted Breedlove to rebuild a neck to my spec and they quoted me $1,200. I was 100% going to do it....it was worth it to me, but the Breedlove Rep responded to me, "we don’t typically offer to reneck a guitar unless the current neck is damaged and it has to be renecked. If it is just for a preference change, we may not do it, but I would have to check with my Operations Manager here. Also, with a Revival, we most likely wouldn’t be able to keep the same headstock as it is not one we make currently. So keep that in mind too."
That was a deal breaker for me!
If you're looking for a light build, light (nitro?) finish, MLO neck shape, VERRRY forward shifted/scalloped braced guitar, at a really good bang for buck, then this might be for you!
