1974 Fender Mustang 3-Tone Sunburst

Up for sale, an incredible vintage (not a reissue) 1974 Fender Mustang in a stunning and classic 3-Tone sunburst in Very Good+ condition. Few guitars deliver as much personality as a fully original vintage early '70s Fender Mustang.

Typical appointments for the era: 3-Tone Sunburst is, countered body, beautifully aged with the kind of honest wear you'd expect from a well-loved guitar that's had fifty years to develop its character. Condition is Very Good+. The finish shows normal play wear consistent with its age, but there are no structural issues, no cracks, no repairs, and nothing that takes away from its look or playability. Neck is straight, truss rod works flawlessly both ways. This is a guitar that has clearly been cared for.

The original electronics are all intact and functioning, all three of the on/off and out-of-phase switches work perfectly, which is increasingly rare on these. The pots date to 1973 and the pickups to 1974, exactly where they should be. The neck stamp is partially faded but still fairly legible. White pickguard and all hardware is all original. No tremolo arm, however any replacement will work. At 7.0 lbs, it's a featherweight compared to other classic guitars.

It ships in its original Silver Tolex hardshell case, which is in good functional condition, worth noting that two of the three latches are broken, though the case still closes and protects the guitar fine.

Short scale, this is one of the most fun guitars Fender ever made, and a fully original '74 in Sunburst doesn't come around every day.
