The Silvertone 1483 is an amplifier from the 1480 series, commissioned by Sears from Danelectro in the 1960s. Adopted by many musicians such as R.E.M., Beck, and Jack White, these are hand-wired amps that deliver an addictive attack and an inimitable crunch.
The 1483 is rarer than the 1484. It features a 15-inch Jensen speaker and a rectifier tube, similar to those found in Fenders. Originally designed for bass with its 15-inch speaker, it ultimately proves very well-suited to guitar, though it will saturate more quickly with a bass.
It has two channels, a standby switch, and a pair of 6L6 tubes delivering 22 watts.
It has just undergone a complete overhaul and is therefore ready to go!
Note that the amp head folds into the speaker cabinet, making it convenient for transport. It's a piggyback design.
This American-made amp operates on 110V and requires a 110/230V transformer.
Information and demonstrations available upon request.
