The Yamaha PLG100-DX is a modular synthesis plug-in expansion board released in 1998 that replicates the 6-operator FM synthesis engine of the legendary Yamaha DX7 synthesizer. It allows compatible Yamaha tone generators, synthesizers, and sound cards to produce authentic, dynamic 1980s FM tones hardware-side rather than relying on standard PCM sample playback.
