For sale is an all original Gibson A-4 mandolin built in Kalamazoo, Michigan, circa 1913 (serial number 14258).
A-4 style mandolins were the higher-grade early Gibson mandolins, and that is very evident in this piece. This mandolin featured has a classic black finish, carved construction, ornate headstock inlay, and original hardware.
This instrument is in playing condition with a few imperfections expected in an instrument over 110 years old. The original hardshell case has a broken handle (see picture), the neck binding has come loose (see picture), and there is a crack in the headstock (see picture).
The mandolin is being sold as-is. Please contact me with any questions or requests for additional pictures.
This is a rare opportunity to own an early Kalamazoo-built Gibson A-4 from the Orville Gibson era.
